Ingredients

Ingredients
  • 1 large flour tortilla (burrito-size)
  • 2–3 slices of good-quality deli turkey breast
  • 2 slices of cooked, crispy bacon
  • 2–3 slices of ripe avocado
  • 2 slices of ripe tomato
  • A generous handful of lettuce or baby spinach
  • 1 slice of cheddar or provolone cheese (optional)
  • 1–2 tablespoons of mayonnaise or ranch dressing
  • A pinch of salt and freshly ground black pepper, to taste

Equipment

  • Skillet
  • Sharp or serrated knife
  • microwave (optional)

Method

Instructions
  1. Gently warm your tortilla in a dry skillet over medium heat for about 10-15 seconds per side or in the microwave for 10 seconds. This makes the tortilla soft and pliable.
  2. Lay the warm tortilla flat and spread the mayonnaise or ranch dressing evenly over the center, leaving a small border around the edges.
  3. Start by placing the lettuce or spinach in the center to create a barrier. Next, layer on the deli turkey, cheese (if using), crispy bacon, tomato slices, and finally, the avocado. Sprinkle with salt and pepper.
  4. Fold the left and right sides of the tortilla in over the fillings. Then, holding those sides in place, pull the bottom edge up and over the fillings, tucking everything in tightly as you roll it into a snug cylinder.
  5. Use a sharp or serrated knife to slice the wrap in half on a diagonal. Serve immediately or wrap tightly in parchment paper or foil for a lunch on the go.

Notes

For the best results, use good quality ingredients and do not overstuff the wrap. To prevent it from getting soggy, pat tomato slices with a paper towel and layer the lettuce first to act as a moisture barrier. If making ahead, pack the tomato and avocado separately and add just before eating. For variations, you can substitute turkey with chicken or roast beef, or use hummus for a vegetarian option. Whole wheat or flavored tortillas can be used, and spreads like chipotle aioli or pesto add a creative twist.
