- Prepare Your Ingredients: If you haven't already, cook and slice or shred your chicken breast. Slice your ripe avocado (a little squeeze of lime juice can help prevent browning!). Dice the tomatoes and shred the lettuce. Having everything prepped makes assembly a breeze.
- Gently Warm the Tortillas: Place your flour tortillas on a plate and pop them in the microwave for about 10-15 seconds. This makes them soft and flexible, which is key to a tightly rolled wrap that doesn't split open.
- Assemble the Wraps: Lay a warm tortilla on a clean, flat surface. Start by adding a layer of shredded lettuce down the center, leaving a couple of inches of space at the edges. Top the lettuce with your cooked chicken, then arrange the avocado slices over the chicken. Finish by sprinkling the diced tomatoes and shredded cheddar cheese on top.
- Season and Dress: Give the fillings a light sprinkle of salt and pepper to enhance all the flavors. Drizzle your ranch dressing over the ingredients. Don't go overboard, or the wrap could become soggy.
- Wrap It Up Tightly: Fold the left and right sides of the tortilla in over the filling. Then, take the bottom edge (the one closest to you) and pull it up and over the filling, tucking it in snugly. Continue rolling tightly until the wrap is completely enclosed.
- Serve and Enjoy: Place your finished Chicken Avocado Wrap seam-side down on a plate to help it stay sealed. You can serve it whole or slice it in half on a diagonal for that classic deli look. Enjoy immediately!
Notes
For the best flavor, use rotisserie chicken. To prevent the wrap from getting soggy, pat lettuce and tomatoes dry with a paper towel and lay the lettuce down first to act as a barrier. Keep avocado from browning by tossing it with a little lime or lemon juice. This wrap can be made gluten-free by using gluten-free tortillas. For variations, try a Southwest style with black beans and corn, add bacon for a BLT version, or include more veggies like red onion and bell peppers.
