Ingredients

Ingredients
  • 1 (12-count) package King’s Hawaiian Original Hawaiian Sweet Rolls
  • 8 slices mild cheddar or American cheese
  • 1/4 cup salted butter, melted
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon onion powder

Equipment

  • 9x9 inch baking dish
  • Serrated knife
  • small bowl
  • pastry brush
  • aluminum foil

Method

Instructions
  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Lightly grease a 9x9 inch baking dish or line it with parchment paper for easy cleanup.
  2. Using a long serrated knife, carefully slice the entire slab of Hawaiian rolls in half horizontally. Don't pull the individual rolls apart. Place the bottom half of the rolls into your prepared baking dish.
  3. Arrange the cheese slices in an even layer over the bottom slab of rolls, covering the entire surface.
  4. Place the top half of the rolls back onto the cheese-covered bottom half.
  5. In a small bowl, whisk together the melted butter, Worcestershire sauce, garlic powder, and onion powder until well combined.
  6. Generously brush the savory butter mixture all over the tops and sides of the rolls, making sure to get into all the crevices.
  7. Cover the baking dish tightly with aluminum foil. Bake for 10-12 minutes. This step is crucial for melting the cheese evenly without burning the tops.
  8. Remove the foil and bake for another 3-5 minutes, or until the tops of the rolls are lightly golden brown and toasted.
  9. Let the sliders cool for a minute or two in the pan before serving. Use a knife to slice them apart or let everyone pull their own right from the dish.

Notes

For the best results, be generous with the savory butter glaze. Let the sliders rest for a minute after baking for the perfect cheese pull. To prevent soggy bottoms, you can lightly toast the bottom slab of rolls before adding cheese. Sliders can be assembled ahead of time, but wait to add the butter glaze until just before baking. Variations include adding ham, bacon, or pepper jack cheese.
